Udaipur – The City of Lakes

Udaipur is considered as one of the most romantic cities in Rajasthan. This city is dominated by Pichola lake and at the centre of the lake is the Lake Palace. When the lake is full the palace seems to float, and it gives an impression of a hallucinated piece of architecture carved from icing sugar. Other two lakes of the city are Fateh Sagar and Udai Sagar. City Palace and Monsoon Palace are another two interesting palaces of Udaipur.

Museums and Havelies
Udaipur is famous for museums and havelies. The main part of the City Palace is now preserved as a museum. The museum display a huge amount of mirror works and paintings. Other famous museums of Udaipur are Shilpgram museum and Abhar museum. Bagori ki Haveli is one of the famous havelis which now stages pleasurable performances of Rajasthani dance and music. People pass their evening there while enjoying the view of the lake.

Art and Culture
Udaipur is also a centre for arts, crafts and dance. It has a renowned school of miniature painting. The best village art can be seen in Shilpgram village. During the shilpgram festival and Marwar festival the art and culture of the city are best displayed. Tourists can enjoy the the whirling dance, puppet show and music during the festivals.

When we talk about Udaipur one most important aspect that click our mind is its wedding venue. The city has become a wedding venue for many designers, bollywood stars and foreigners. The gorgeous Lake Palace, once the summer residence of Udaipur's Maharaja, is now accessible to any one who can afford it.
